Akera was established in 2020 with a very simple purpose – to help our clients to tackle complex challenges and grow.
Akera is led by founders James Christou and Wade Bubner, who both love getting in the trenches with their growing team and doing whatever Akera can to help our clients develop new projects, expand into new markets, navigate uncertain situations and build better businesses.
Our name Akera is derived from the Greek word ‘akeraiotita’ – which represents integrity and refers to the state of being undivided. It symbolises an idea of wholeness, completeness, adhering to moral principles and maintaining a sense of honor.
These principles guide our team decisions – we work with clients and partners that share our values, appreciate our expertise and challenge us to deliver great work. Our team is super proud of what we have achieved so far, and even more excited about what the future holds…

James Christou Founder

- ‘The Octopus’ – James has a way with people. He loves to shoot the breeze and get to know people, and that ability to connect widely is what gives him the tentacles to know who to talk to, and how to make things happen.
- Inquisitive – James was that kid that always asked ‘Why?’
When James is not working, he is happiest spending time with his young family, cycling in the Adelaide hills and keeping his hands busy with a new project.
Wade Bubner Founder
- Creative – Wade has a track record of creating opportunities for his network.
- Diplomatic – Wade is empathetic and resolves complex issues by understanding and building relationships with the stakeholders involved.
